Marlins P Nolasco done for season; Hayes separates shoulder

09/02/2010 - Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Florida Marlins right-hander Ricky Nolasco will miss the remainder of the season and will have surgery next week to repair torn medial meniscus in his right knee.

Nolasco, who is 14-9 with a 4.51 ERA this season, will be replaced by Andrew Miller when the Marlins play Atlanta on Friday.

The Marlins also announced catcher Brett Hayes has a Grade 1 separation of his left shoulder. He was hurt in a collision at home plate in the 10th inning of Tuesday's game against the Nationals. That's when Washington's Nyjer Morgan plowed into the catcher trying to score.

Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.
